Have you ever had a birthday party just to celebrate your name? That's what Czechs do here on their Name Days!
In Prague, they have Name Days! Although this tradition is not unique to the Czech Republic, as it is found in many European countries, it is a fun tradition that many look forward to throughout the year. In addition to a birthday, which is celebrated on the anniversary of one's birth, Czechs celebrate days dedicated to their names! Every day of the year has a different name attributed to it, meaning that all the "Ami"s and "Noya"s in the Czech Republic would celebrate on the same day!
In the Czech Republic, most people's names are based off of a religious figure or saint, and so a person's Name Day is a way of celebrating both them and their namesake! One of my professors told me that there is a set list of names a couple can name their baby here, all of which are included in the year's Name Days. However, there is still a day attributed to all the people whose names aren't listed on the calendar, so that they feel included
