Hola estudiantes! Our time together has come to an end, but my time in Colombia is still just beginning! I am so excited to keep learning about Colombia's culture and experience life here. I am grateful to all of you for listening to my stories so far and for asking valuable questions about my experiences. Those questions help me reflect on what it means to be a traveler, as well as a teacher.
As you all approach winter break, we have just wrapped up our school year here in Plato for our summer break! Both the heat of the Christmas season and holiday celebrations are in full bloom. We celebrated Dia de las Velitas on Sunday, and Monday was the 399th birthday of Plato’s founding. This the time of year when the streets are full of people, and the town is brimming with music and dance. The energy is a refreshing restart before the next school year, and I hope you all find time to decompress over the break as well.
Looking towards the future, my work here is far from over. I’ll continue teaching English while hopefully expanding my work with other schools in town, bringing together English teachers from across Plato.
