Shout out to the Kinmen Kids!

The students noted that there were two kids that had names that sounded the same. The name is Pei-zhen (pronounced pay-jen), but the names use different Chinese characters. Some of the students' English names are the same, and I commonly hear Ryan, Ray, Kevin, Sean, Ava and Angel.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

The students here study many different things. They all study three languages: English, Chinese and Taiwanese. They have classes for natural science, computers, math, art, music, exercise and social studies. Some students stay after school to practice sports or learn flute or drumming. Ian's favorite class is English. Amy's favorite is art. Andy and Tom both like computer class. Star likes science and Elly likes drumming.

What is your homework like?:

My students agreed that there is always too much homework. They say they have to do a lot of character writing. Specifically, they have to copy down the passages from their textbooks.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

Star said she likes to shower after school, and her favorite game is Go. Go is a strategy board game with pieces similar to those used in checkers. Amy likes to play on her iPad. Andy likes to play basketball after school. Ryan, Tom, Elly and Ian all like to practice track and field after school, but Elly's favorite sport is swimming.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

Ryan and Elly said their favorite famous person is the soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, but here he is known as C羅. C stands for Cristiano and 羅 (pronounced luo) stands for Ronaldo.
