Traveler Bio

Hallo! Ich bin Sierra Grim. Hello, I am Sierra Grim. I am from the Land of Enchantment, otherwise known as New Mexico. I attended New Mexico State University, where I studied Genetics and Biotechnology. I had many opportunities to travel across the United States for research conferences and summer research internships. At the same time, I secretly thought that I would never be able to travel the world. I assumed it was too expensive, and deep down, I found it a bit scary.

Despite my fears, I applied for a Fulbright grant to conduct research in an entirely new country: Germany! I was so excited to be accepted, even though it meant traveling far away from the comforting green chile scents of the Land of Enchantment and living in Greifswald, Germany with my husband. This would surely be the hardest (yet greatest!) experience of my life so far.

During my Fulbright journey, I worked in a research lab studying Type 2 Diabetes. I became great friends with my coworkers. While working hard in the research lab, I also took fun weekend trips to countries like France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria. I hope you will learn from my example to try new things like living in a different country, eating new foods, and making international friends!

Bis spater! See you later!
