Transportation in Stockholm

Introduction:

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and is located on the eastern coast of the country. It is made up of 14 islands, but the entire surrounding region encompasses 30,000 islands.

How do people get around?:

In Stockholm, there is the subway, the commuter train, buses and ferries. I am staying with my friend Mathilde in a suburb of Stockholm called Fleminsburg. In order to get into the city, we have to take the commuter train for 25 minutes. The trains are spacious and comfortable. Once you're in the more urban area of Stockholm, you take the subways and busses.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I really liked traveling around Stockholm. I always felt safe and comfortable. People don't talk much on trains, though.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Because Stockholm is set on islands, you can take the ferry as well. I was surprised to find out that the weekly transportation card I had bought, also applied to the ferries! Coming from the land-locked city of Atlanta, the idea of taking ferries every day is a foreign concept to me, but it is an everyday reality for people living in a city of islands!
