I grew up near the ocean outside of Los Angeles, California in a city called Rancho Palos Verdes. Having spent so much of my life near the ocean, I always love getting my feet wet and stopping to say hello to the wildlife (from a safe distance, of course). I have a younger brother named Henry and a dog named Comet. Henry, Comet and my mom are my family. My favorite thing to do when I am home is to walk along the beach with them and talk while Comet barks at almost everything.

After I graduated from high school, I moved to Indiana (in the Midwest) to attend Earlham College. I studied politics and feminist studies in a school with a community of students from across the country and around the world. As part of my politics major, I learned about governments around the world and how different governments have or have not been successful in making their citizens safe, healthy and happy. I also learned about how people use many forms of power to impact one another. I wanted to learn more about how U.S. politics impact people around the world, so I jumped at the opportunity to study at a college specializing in Tibetan studies in India.

I studied abroad in a city named Dharamsala (dar-ah-m-saw-law) in the Himalayan Mountains in northern India for four months and loved getting to know people from different cultures.
