Buenas buenas! (Hello hello!) My name is Sophia Garske. Adventures are my passion and favorite thing to do. Growing up, I lived in both the U.S. and Colombia and have had many adventures. I went paragliding on the coast of California, swam through reefs of infinitely colorful fish in Mexico, and went ziplining in the jungles of Costa Rica.
Through those experiences, I learned about the value of meeting people with different life experiences. Conversation with people from other countries is very special to me, as I love learning and exploring other ways of life. I learned about other places through my college courses and got excited about having a career in another country. I speak Spanish and English, so I imagined myself in Spain.
I decided to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain for all of the above reasons. I am grateful to have gotten the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to support my journey and studies, and I can't wait to share my adventures in Spain with you! I hope you get excited about studying abroad as much as I have.
