In my school's Global Education Club, we are doing a year-long project on water conservation. Teams of students have chosen different ways to promote saving water. The projects vary from posters to a musical performance to an Instagram challenge!

Saving water is important in Taiwan because there are water shortages in some parts of the country. Not only do people use water in their homes, but water is also used in factories. Taiwan makes the computer chips that go in iPhones and iPads, and making those computer chips consumes a lot of water.

Another problem is that some people don't know that Taiwan's tap water is safe to drink, so they buy bottled water. The only possible danger is that it can be contaminated when it travels through pipes to people's homes. Most people in Taiwan boil their tap water before they drink it. Sometimes the tap water can smell a little bit like chlorine, which is used to make the water clean, but it is still safe.

Is it safe to drink the tap water where you live?
