A day in the life of Kevin

Introduction:

In this field note, I'm going to hand the wheel over to Kevin. Kevin is 10 years old and lives in Shenyang. He is a great kid with a lot of energy and a smile that could light up a room. His parents are really dedicated to his education. Every weekend, he has over five different tutoring sessions. This is not unusual in China. Young kids typically spend their entire weekends learning extra skills like sports and instruments. Kevin knows how to play the piano, xylophone and flute. He's also getting tutored in math, oral English (through me) and pronunciation.

Out of privacy, there are no pictures of Kevin.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I eat rice and eggs. During lunchtime, I have some meat, usually chicken with fried rice. Lastly, for dinner, there is rice but this time with fish mixed in. Rice is a staple in a lot of Chinese foods. Apart from it being grown here for generations, there are a lot of ways you can mix it up with different side dishes.

What is your house like?:

I live in a spacious apartment building inside of this residential area. My apartment has a lot of big windows. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. I have my own room. There is also a kitchen, dining room and living room. In my living room are my pet fish and a piano that I play on the weekends.
