Mandarin is the main language spoken in Shenyang. However, most people know at least some English.
The currency in Shenyang is called yuan, or RMB. Sometimes, people refer to money as kuai as well. It’s similar to saying "a buck" in the states.

The best meal I had this week was for lunch with my boss and some of the other English professors at Northeastern University. We had a lot of food from Northeast China. It was served in a traditional round-table style.
