The Best Trains in the World

Introduction:

There are nearly 30 million people in Tokyo! Can you imagine what it would be like if everybody got in their cars and drove to work and school every morning? The traffic would be so bad it. It would feel like everyone was standing still!

How do people get around?:

Thankfully, most people take the train and follow a bunch of rules. It seems to me that people just seem to know the rules without even being taught.

You can buy a transit card, similar to the New York MetroCard, to pay. However, this one acts as a credit card that you can use at stores, too. Every neighborhood has its own train station. Different lines travel through the stations. It is very easy to transfer over to another line.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Tokyo is so big and there are so many train lines! It's easy to feel overwhelmed when you first get on the trains. My first time gettting on by myself was about two days into my journey. I wanted to buy McDonald's. I got on my train and quickly noticed my stop came up. Every announcement is made in both Japanese and English. It was so easy to pick up! Now, I feel I can go anywhere in Tokyo; it's that easy to ride the trains.

The biggest problem is rush hour.
