Perspective is an interesting concept. Perspective is the point of view of a specific person on their outlook of the world. Everyone has a differernt perspective based on their childhood, parents, friends, family, interests and education. In the same way that everyone is unique and different, everyone also has their own perspective. Often times, however, large groups of people form a similar perspective for any number of reasons, and become so focused on that perspective that they can't seem to place themselves in someone else's shoes. It is very important in life to be able to see through someone else's eyes and how they might view the world. This is a very open-minded way of thinking and can be very insightful for everyone.
Coming from the United States to another country and entirely diferent region of the world, I expected my perspective to be challenged or shifted. Growing up in the U.S. and never visiting any other countries myself gave me a specific point of view, one from an American citizen living in a very safe and healthy country (for the most part). Many Americans share this perspective, as almost 40% of Americans have never left the country. In fact, about 10% of Americans have never left their home states. While the number of people obtaining passports and traveling to other countries has increased over the last twenty years, many Americans are very sheltered in this way.
