Our News

When possible, I like to take leftovers for lunch the following day, too!

What music did I listen to this week?:

One of the cafes in town that I go to study at, called Alameed, has live instrumental music every evening, which I love listening to. This music also sometimes includes traditional instruments. The majority of the music I listen to right now is in cafes, and is a mix of popular Arabic songs and American music.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

There is a cat cafe in town, called Bast Space, that adopts stray cats and lets visitors play with them. I visited the cafe this week with my classmate while we worked on our Arabic homework. The cats are adorable and very friendly. One of the kittens, named Sushi, sat on my textbook though, so, while it was very fun, I still had a lot of homework when I got home.

What did I read this week?:

Earlier this week, I got the book Dracula from a local bookstore. This book is printed in both English and Arabic on alternating pages. I have only just started, but I love the challenge of reading the story in Arabic. The English translation is very useful for when I need help, too!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

One of my favorite things here is the night culture. People of all ages often stay out late, and they have amazing activities to get involved in. One of the big centers at night, named Swefieh Village, includes a number of arcades and bounce rooms for adults and kids. Also, they have game centers with table tennis, billiards/pool, and boardgames.
