A Taste of New York in Bristol

Introduction:

As a New Yorker, I am quite picky about two particular food items: pizza and bagels. I love the warmth and softness of a poppy seed or plain bagel when it's fresh out of the oven and lathered with cream cheese. I have fond memories of enjoying a butter bagel on the way to school because it was one of the delicacies I could afford. Since living in Bristol, I have received a few suggestions to try out Little Bagel Co. for its New York style bagels and mustered enough energy to go for lunch after my archaeology class despite not feeling one hundred percent.

What food did I try?:

I ordered the B.E.C on a plain bagel which is shorthand for bacon, egg and cheese. This dish is a breakfast staple for New Yorkers, and I was curious to see how this small, Bristol-based bagel shop would recreate one of my favorite foods. I paired my meal with an everything cookie to satisfy my sweet tooth and ChariTea green infused with ginger to combat my clogged sinuses.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I felt immense joy upon trying the B.E.C. and was surprised by how familiar it tasted. I rarely get to enjoy a bagel that lives up to my standard as a New Yorker or one that infuses my favorite dish on a bagel rather than a roll. The B.E.C exceeded my expectations, and so did the everything cookie.
