Kids Perspectives Across Ages

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

Elton likes Funk (pronounced funky), which is a unique kind of Brazilizan rap that originated in favela communities. Talita prefers "acoustic poetry" which is a particular format of Brazilian rap/slam poetry, where artists share a collective table and all perform (I'll upload a video here!). Vítor likes sertaneja (ser-tah-nay-jah) pop which is the Brazilian equivalent to pop country, his favorite song is "Jenifer" by Gabriel Diniz. Sofia likes Brazilian pop (see: Ludmilla).

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

Elton wants to be a businessman. Talita wants to be a police officer so she can serve her community and not be afraid of anyone. Vítor wants to be a professional soccer player. Sofia would like to become an English teacher.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

There is lot of interest in Paris here. Elton and Sofia both want to visit this city because it looks beautiful. Vítor is not interested in Paris, he instead wants to go to Portugal because in Portugual "people shower, and in Paris they don't shower". Talita is most interested in visiting the Netherlands because it looks beautiful and unique.

What do you know or think about the United States?:

All the kids except for Sofia think the U.S. looks cool. They said people from the U.S. seem stylish and they think we buy cool cars and clothing. Sofia, however, doesnt think the US is cool because "a lot of people die there" and she always sees it in the paper here.

What questions do you have for kids in the United States?:

The kids want to know what school is like for you all.
