Traveler Bio

Lumelang (Hello)! My name is Taylor Colony. I am 23 years old and am originally from Lexington, Kentucky. For college, I moved to North Carolina to study at Wake Forest University (go Deacs!), where I earned by degree in Psychology with double minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience. As much as I love science and spending hours in research labs, my real passion is for people! After having the opportunity to study abroad during my time in college, I knew I wanted to keep pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone to pursue cross-cultural and interpersonal connections. The Peace Corps’ mission is to promote cross-cultural understanding through acts of service, so I knew it would be perfect for me! My fiancé and I applied together before graduating college, and the Peace Corps decided to send us to Lesotho (a small, mountainous country inside of South Africa), where we are both serving as primary school (elementary and middle school) teachers. Outside of traveling and teaching, I love hiking, doing yoga, reading, and playing with my cat, Kobo, who we adopted here in Lesotho. I am so excited to share my adventures with you and learn more about you and your class!
