I would like to introduce everyone to a colleague of mine, Emilie. Emilie has been a mentor to me both inside and outside the lab and has been very helpful to me in finishing my year abroad. She always answers my questions and always gives me help when I ask for it. She has a lovely smile and I don't think anyone can say anything bad about her. Come and learn about this wonderful person!
Note: At Emilie's request, there will be no pictures of her posted in this article. However, she has sent some photos of her favorite places in Paris that I have included here for you to see!
Her full name is Emilie Su. For native English speakers, you pronounce her first name very much the same as you would pronounce "Emily". You might wonder why the spelling is so different, so let's take a look at the French alphabet and pronunciation. En Français, the letter "i" is pronounced the way English speakers would say "e". Also, remember in French the last syllable in a word is rarely pronounced, so the second "e" in Emilie's name is silent.
