Dear Travelers,

We’ve reached the end of our journey together. We took a trip to Spain, wandered around Morocco and experienced life in the Netherlands. We learned about how Dutch kids live and how that differs from how you grew up. We talked about how the Second World War destroyed Rotterdam and how the city was rebuilt even better than before. We interviewed my friend Ilia to learn about life in Greece. We explored Dutch culture together, everything from the huge international community to Zwarte Piet to stroopwaffles. Thank you so much for going on this journey with me!

Traveling and experiencing cultures is a great way to learn about the world and to grow as a person. I hope that you got a taste of this through our journey together.

Through my travels, I’ve gotten to practice new languages, meet people with different perspectives and try new things. For example, when I met my friends Ilia and Vasiliki, they taught me Greek words, introduced me to their Greek community and showed me how to play the Greek card game Biriba. The best experiences and the best conversations I’ve had abroad happen when I am outside my comfort zone and engaging with unfamiliar things.

Experiencing a new culture also forced me to re-think my own culture.
