Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I went to and from school all week. I am a 20-minute walk away from school. I like to take the shortcut up the sides of the mountains. I had a hard time climbing the mountains because of the rain and mudslides.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

The furthest I have traveled in Lesotho is one full day, on six different buses, to a district called Buthe Buthe. I went to a ski resort called AfriSki where I learned how to snowboard. In May, June and July, Lesotho gets lots of snow in the highlands.

How did I get around this week?:

I got around on foot. Once, on my way to school while it was raining, the teachers’ taxi picked me up from home and dropped me off at school so that I was not late. When it is raining, walking on foot can be dangerous because of the mudslides and lightning.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I enjoyed my visit to the school garden. I did not expect to find raspberries hiding in the bush, but I am glad I did because they were yummy.

Other Travel News from this week:

My mom visited me from America for Christmas. I took her to Thaba Bosiu, a historical and cultural site in Lesotho. We hiked up the Thaba Bosiu mountain for two hours. We climbed up 5,919 feet above sea level to see the home of King Moshoshoe I.
