Todos Santos, the Oasis and the Ocean

They typically have plants that are commonly found in the oasis, like flowers and palm trees, but these hotels and restaurants are far from the oasis. This means that large amounts of water are used daily to water these plants, and many worry where the town will get water once the aquifer is dry.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Here, we are near the equator (close to the sun), so often there are no clouds and it can be very hot. Many people who work in the sun wear hats and face coverings to prevent overheating, and sometimes people even walk around with umbrellas to escape the heat in the shade. It is also important to stay hydrated in the desert heat. Water, carbonated water (from the brand Topo Chico) and an electrolyte drink (called Electrolit) are the most common ways people stay hydrated. Though, they of course drink many other delicious drinks like jamaica (made from hibiscus) and tamarindo (made from tamarind).
