This option tends to be the easiest logistically when offered, because the university will assign housing for you. However, this also means you have little control over who you live with. While some schools have this option, others do not. The university I attend does not offer this option, so I chose to live in an apartment instead.
I am currently living in an apartment in Sol. Sol is a neighborhood right in the center of the city. I am close to many of the famous landmarks in Madrid. The apartment has five rooms and we are all exchange students from all around the world. I was able to find this apartment through a credible online agency that specializes in helping exchange students find housing. In the past week, I have gotten to know my flatmates, and I am incredibly happy and excited about my apartment. Everyone has a fun and genuine personality, and we get along very well. I can’t wait to get to grow my relationship with my flatmates.
This was also my first week of classes! Through school, I have met Spaniards and other exchange students. I have had the opportunity to eat lunch and tour Madrid with my new classmates, and I can’t wait to get to know them better. I have established a distinct group of friends, but I enjoy getting to know people every day. I am also excited about the business courses I will be taking such as "Stocks and Capital Markets". All of the professors have been understanding and kind. Each of them, however, has a different style of teaching and it will take some time for me to adjust to these new styles.
In the past two weeks, I have begun setting a basic routine in my life in Madrid.
