Transportation in the U.K.

Introduction:

Transportation is an important part of any experience visiting a foreign country, and using the transportation that people use in the city I’m visiting, is an exciting part of this trip.

How do people get around?:

As with many other countries, the U.K. has a lot of cars. Some people own their own cars, but most of the people in London use public transportation or taxis to travel around in the city. The public transportation in U.K. is of a pretty high quality, clean and convenient. There are many routes that take people to different places in the city for not a lot of money, and efficiently, especially when you compare the public transportation to people driving themselves. The most common forms of public transportation in the U.K. is the bus and the subway, (which they call the Tube, here). The bus in the U.K. is normally red and most of them are double-decker (two-story) buses. These buses are very big and long. The shape of the bus also looks very modern. The bus system in London also has many routes and buses run pretty frequently. Some of the bus lines run at night, and some run 24 hours a day. The Tube also has many different lines which connect different zones of London, and passengers are charged based on which zones they travel in. Each zone will have many lines going in different directions. Traveling by Tube costs a lot less than taking a taxi.
