The Amazon River Basin is the most biodiverse (many different kinds of living things) ecosystem (all the living and non-living things in an area) on the planet! If you've heard about the Amazon River before and have always wanted to see what it's really like, this Reach the World Travel Club experience is for you.
My name is Jess, and I'm heading to Peru in South American country to experience this amazing place for myself AND help students like you experience it, too. As you are learning about biodiversity, ecosystems, habitats, geography, conservation or other topics that relate to the Amazon River, Travel Club members and I will go "on assignment" to get answers to all your questions.
I'm especially excited to join this expedition because of my background in Biology. I’ve worked as a coral reef ecologist, conservationist, oceanographer and high school science teacher. I have a degree in Biology and a Master’s in Coastal Management. My favorite topic has always been ecology (the study of how species interact with one another). I’m fascinated by the intricate web of life in ecosystems, and the Amazon has been on my bucket list for years. I almost made it there in 2010 while working on a boat, but a last-minute change of plans kept us from going.
Want to know how people live within the Amazon region? We will ask them and record their answers. Curious what animals live in the Amazon River itself? We will take to the water and investigate! Want to know how loud the rainforest is? We will join your class for a video call from the river so you can hear for yourself! Your curiosity is our mission.
This Amazon Expedition runs from October 12-20, 2024, and is best experienced live. To learn more email [email protected] or register here: bit.ly/JoinRTWTravelClub
