I traveled about 500 miles this week via bus to the town of Santa Catalina. The bus ride was about eight hours total to get there, and about eight hours to come back. I also traveled about 50 miles by boat roundtrip from the town of Santa Catalina to Parque Nacional de Isla Coiba, Coiba Island National Park, where we went scuba diving.
The farthest point that I've been on this journey was to the Bocas del Toro Provence, which directly translates to the mouth of the bull. I flew from a small airport in Panama City to the Caribbean coast, which is about the same distance from Oak Ridge to Atlanta. The flight was only 45 minutes, but because of the narrow roads and mountains, the bus ride would have been over ten hours!
I took Ubers, taxis, buses and even the Metro. Panama City is the only city in Central America to have a city Metro system.
