I haven't traveled at all, which is typical for me! I rarely leave my village, as it takes a long time to get anywhere, and travel is not the best here in Senegal. It's very unpredictable as far as timing and price, so it's difficult to make plans to leave the town. However, I did walk about eight kilometers one day when I went for a long walk to a neighboring village.
I couldn't begin to guess how far I've traveled since I've been in Senegal! The country is only about the size of the state of South Dakota, but because roads and transportation are unreliable, it takes a very long time to get anywhere. The capital region and my program's training center are where I would go for training sessions and health appointments. I usually take two days to get to my capital region, even though it's only 272 miles away. I even have to go through another country to get there! (The Gambia)
Walking only! My bike is currently broken. I've tried to repair it three times, but the parts at my local market are not working, and it keeps breaking down. My family and neighbors have been riding motorcycles, donkey carts, bikes, and cars occasionally.
