Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Most of my traveling this week was related to my commute. The farthest I went was about 10-15 miles, where the family I tutor for lives in North München. I traveled there by subway and finished a 2-hour session after walking back with my student from school.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

The farthest I have traveled during my year in Germany has been to Berlin, to which I have gone twice. The first was during Halloween, in which I strangely decided to fly to Berlin to visit one of my friends from Korea, who was also on their study abroad semester. The flight only took around 1.5 hours. I spent this trip visiting landmarks that I previously visited in Berlin a few years ago and also watching a modern rendition of Romeo and Juliet at the Berlin State Opera.

The second time was with one of my friends from my program for new year's. This time, I took the train, which was about a 4-5 hour trip. Berlin was a very wild city during new year's, and there were many fireworks going off. We mostly went to museums, though. Some other honorable mentions are my program trip to Bonn and my trip to Salzburg with some friends.

How did I get around this week?:

I traveled mostly by U-Bahn, which is the metro/subway equivalent in Germany. I also briefly took the S-Bahn, which is like a train-subway hybrid, and the bus, which I have to take from work now.
