As I mentioned earlier, the furthest I have traveled this week was to Brighton. It is a seaside city that is part of the combined Brighton and Hove area. All that was required to get there was one train ride lasting about one hour and fifteen minutes.
So far, the furthest I have traveled was a school-organized day trip that included a walking tour of the city of Bath and a visit to Stonehenge in Wiltshire, which was approximately three hours away by bus. I have yet to travel for a weekend anywhere, but next month I have plans to visit Venice, Dublin and Amsterdam!
Within London, I am either traveling on the Tube or walking somewhere on foot. In order to get to Brighton, however, I went on the National Rail Service for the first time. Although it's a train, similar to the Tube, a separate ticket is required for travel, as an Oyster Card does not qualify. An Oyster card only works for London travel. A separate platform is also needed within specific Underground stations to access the various lines. So, to get to Brighton, I rode the Tube to my connecting station, where I then got on the National Rail Service.
