Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I traveled 1 and a half hours on a bus to Wachau Valley in Wachau, Austria.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I've traveled far outside of the main city on a school field trip. We went to an old palace that was built several centuries ago during the time of the Romans. Mozart, Beethoven, and a variety of other famous composers have booked rooms in this palace and stayed here for specific events. Reportedly, this palace houses a fragment of the cross that Jesus Christ was cruicifed on. We weren't allowed to see it, however.

How did I get around this week?:

To get around, I took Austria's world renowned public transit system, specifically the Untergrundbahn (U-bahn for short), which is German for 'underground railway'. Even though Vienna is a very walkable city, the U-bahn makes getting around all the more convenient. It took me a week or two to understand how the U-bahn works, but once I figured it out, I never looked back!

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I had the privilege of seeing was the Musikverin Concert House in Vienna's first district. My composition professor paid for our tickets so we could see a two hour long concert featuring the music of Johannes Brahms, a composer in the romantic era.
