When we arrived at the temple we were visiting, we had to walk up a mountain to reach it!
The Buddhist temple I stayed in was the most interesting place I visited this week. I always knew about Buddhism as a popular religion in Asia, but all I knew about Buddhism was that it was a peaceful religion. I had no idea that it involved hours upon hours of dedication, such as bowing with your head to the floor 108 times in a row! We also had to wake up at four in the morning to attend a morning ceremony, and we ate our food at six in the morning, like the monks. We even got to ask questions and share lotus tea with the head monk of the temple. The whole experience was amazing yet so different from what I am used to. However, it helped open my eyes to a new religion that I now respect! Even more amazing, I discovered my birthday is the same day as Buddha's this year (May 12th) and got lots of smiles as a result!
