In Taiwan, people love to visit night markets. A night market is a bit like a fair, but it happens on one street every night. Every city in Taiwan has a night market, and because Taipei is so big, we have about 30! There are tons of stands where you can buy food and drinks. There are even places to play games, shop for clothes and watch performers. It is an exciting and busy place.
Since night markets have so many different foods to try, it can be hard to choose! I had a sausage and watermelon juice. Taiwanese sausages are a very popular treat, and every night market has a barbecue stand with sausages on sticks. Sometimes there are funny flavors, like squid sausage! Since sausages are hot and greasy, I like to have it with some cold, fresh watermelon juice.
Night markets are very busy and have so many choices, so the first time I went to one, I was a little overwhelmed. What should I pick? Where are my friends? Is there anywhere to sit down? It gets easier once you get the hang of it, so I had a fun time. All the food was so delicious, and I cannot wait to go back and try even more!
