A Taste of Morocco

Another thing I have tried is atay, which is what Moroccan people call mint tea. Many people drink atay every day, especially when spending time with friends and family. One food that surprised me was babbouche, which is made of snails cooked in a spiced broth.

In the town where I live, many cafés and restaurants also serve French and Mediterranean food, such as pasta, sandwiches, and pastries. I have really enjoyed getting sweet desserts from the cafes! One of my favourite drinks has become avocado milk. Even though it sounded strange at first, it tasted creamy and sweet, and I now enjoy it very much.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I have not loved every food I have tried, and that is okay. Some foods have tasted plain to me, and I missed eating spicy food from home. Trying different foods has helped me learn more about what I like and what I miss from home.

I feel happy when I eat food cooked in a tajine because it tastes warm and is full of flavour. I often feel excited when I try new desserts from cafés because they are sweet and fun to eat. Trying babbouche made me feel brave, because it was something I had never eaten before.
