I had been dealing with health issues that forced me to postpone my application to medical school. At the time, I felt completely distraught. The idea of taking a gap year felt like a setback, like I was falling behind while everyone else moved on with their lives.
But during my gap year in 2024, I started searching for something, anything, that could give meaning to that unexpected pause in my life. That is when I discovered the Fulbright Scholarship. I applied hopefully, but also completely unsure of what it would be like and not fully realizing just how much it would change me.
Looking back now, I truly believe that even in the hardest moments, life has a way of guiding us exactly where we are meant to be. Had I not gone through those struggles last year, I would have never had this experience here. I wouldn’t have experienced this beautiful culture, learning from incredible people, and forming connections with students, family and the community that will stay with me forever. This experience did not just fill a gap year, it filled my heart!
What is meant for you will always find its way to you!
