Even though there wasn't much open discussion of the conservation crisis, it stayed in the back of my head while we were there. The practices weren't very environmentally conscious, and I saw a lot of uneaten fish being tossed back out to sea, causing dead fish to wash up on the shore of the beach. Spain has made efforts to preserve its sea life with multiple laws limiting the amount of fish people can take in a day, and I hope to see these efforts continue. Many areas do not have environmental protections in place, despite our growing awareness of these issues.
