Over the past weekend, I did quite a bit of travelling with my friend Alejandro and his parents to celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary. On Saturday, we went to La Fortuna, which is about an hour from Ciudad Quesada, to go on a pontoon boat on Lake Arenal. The views of the Arenal Volcano were breathtaking, even though we could not see the entire volcano due to the cloud cover that morning. After the boat ride, we went to Arenal national park to walk on the trails and sit at the lookout point to admire the view. Then we went out for dinner at a seafood restaurant with a stunning balcony view of the lake. As the sun set, we chatted and took some incredible photos. After dinner, we went to downtown La Fortuna for an ice cream and walked around the park in front of the church. Then, on Sunday, we travelled to Puntarenas so I could see the port city and the beach there. The trip took about 3 hours in total, but we stopped at a beautiful restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant had a garden area with cows, goats, horses, several types of birds like peacocks and turkeys, and a butterfly garden. The drive to Puntarenas was breathtaking, passing though enormous mountains.
