What main languages are spoken here?:

Arabic is the primary language spoken by everyone, but many people know a little bit of English as well.

What type of money is used here?:

The Jordanian dinar is used here. Five Jordanian dinars are equal to $7.05 in the U.S. Here in Jordan, we use paper bills and interesting looking coins too.  

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water might cost half a dinar in one store and 1.50 dinars in another. Sometimes you have to barter with store owners to get the price down.

What was the best meal this week?:

This week, I ate some delicious rice with vegetables that were mixed with labneh (a thin, sour yogurt). This is a very common thing to eat here and very delicious. The word for delicious in Arabic is zeky.

What music did I listen to this week?:

Every day, I hear Arab music playing very loudly from the cars in the streets. The music is very lively with a fun beat.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This weekend, I took a bus across the border into Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. I had a lot of fun exploring the old cities and seeing very old ruins. The border crossing was very long and difficult, but I am so happy that I got to see such beautiful cities.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I read my Arabic textbook.
