The Feral Cats of Macaracas

Where does it live?:

These cats live almost everywhere, in every part of town. I see them sleeping on the side of the road on my way to work, In both the front and back yards of my house, in wild forested areas, and almost everywhere! Because cats can reproduce so rapidly, the high population sometimes causes problems for people, especially when they chew on people's crops and eat their chickens.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Although these cats are domesticated breeds, they definitely make use of their different stripes and colors to blend into their surroundings. This makes it easy for them to hide in the tall grasses and shady trees and bushes that populate people's yards and fincas

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Dogs, both those with owners and those who lives on the street, will often chase the cats and injure them if possible. This isn't particularly a big worry, as the feral cat population is, quite frankly, out of hand. The street cats are often seen as a nuisance, and while some people do keep them as pets, and some people do feed the ones in the neighborhood, a lot of people chase them away.
