Eating in London

Introduction:

Trying new foods in London has been an amazing experience. As a global city, London has food from all over the world, and every day, I have the opportunity to learn about a new culture. My goal over the next few months is to try more traditional British food, I am still yet to have a Sunday Roast. On Sundays in the United Kingdom, people typically get together to share a slow cooked meal which typically includes roast beef, mashed potatos and Yorkshire Pudding.

What food did I try?:

When I first got to London one of the first things I tried was fish and chips. The fish was fried cod, and chips are the British word for fries. It can actually get pretty confusing, as here they call fries "chips" and they call chips "crisps"!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I first tried the fish and chips, I immediately felt comforted. There is nothing better than fish and chips on a rainy day, of which there are many in London. You can dip the fish in tartar sauce or mayo. Sometimes people will put vinegar on their fries!

How is the food prepared?:

The cod is battered and deep fried. The fish is very salty, but it's just right for me. The fries are prepared as expected, being made of thick-cut potato and deep fried in oil.
