Today we'll learn about modes of transportation all over Japan. What kind of transportation do you usually take in New York? Based on movies, I think many New Yorkers ride bikes or take taxis. Am I wrong? Anyhow, let's learn about how people in a different country get to work and school. Who knows: you might have a lot in common with them!
In Japan, people use cars, taxis, trains, subways (which are pretty much underground trains), bicycles, mopeds and buses. Also, many people just walk to get where they need to go.
Which one of these options do you use the most? I usually ride my bike and take the train, but can you believe that many old people (I'm talking about 80-year-old people) ride bikes, and many little kids sit on the back of bikes as their parents take the wheel.
Here, the buses and trains can be troublesome when a lot of people ride them because sometimes I feel like I can't breathe. But when they're empty or not so busy, bus and train rides can be very pleasent experiences in Japan. I haven't ridden a motorbike or moped yet because you have to buy one and put insurance on it (I'm not rich, haha).
