Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

From Dominica (where we last spoke) to Grenada, Wind Surf has traveled more than 200 miles! The ship typically leaves a port in the early evening and travels overnight, so that guests wake up in their next port-of-call.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Wind Star has traveled more than 500 miles already as part of this expedition! Beginning in St. Maarten, we've made our way down the Windward Islands, and we're currently due to arrive next in Grenada.

How did I get around this week?:

This mode of exploration is special, in that my accommodations are also my mode of travel! When I was traveling between islands aboard Wind Surf, I also traveled back and forth between the ship's anchorage and shore using smaller tender boats.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I really like Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is small and charming, the food is wonderful, the beaches are gorgeous and the people are very welcoming and kind. The island has made a name for itself as one of the finest hand-made wooden model boat building centers. The wooden boats that they create here are remarkable!
