About me and my studies in Nepal

This context includes how forces like gender, economy, history and climate change affect Nepal. Near the end of the semester, I’ll get to choose a topic to research on my own for four weeks, which will most likely be related to plants.

The most intensive aspect of the program is the language learning class. I have Nepali language class everyday and get to practice my Nepali with my homestay, the family I’m living with. I’m looking forward to having longer conversations in Nepali as the semester goes on.

When I’m not studying plants, I love crafting. Some of the crafts I do include jewelry making, crochet and sewing clothes. The clothes I make often use fabric from old curtains, tablecloths or sheets I find at second hand stores. Additionally, I love rock climbing at the local gym, Memphis Rox, with my college rock climbing club. I’ve gone on two outdoor climbing trips with them and hope to go on more after I come back from Nepal. My other hobbies are playing violin, roller blading, long distance running and cooking.

Thanks for staying tuned! I’ll keep you updated on my language learning journey and my experience learning from Nepal’s environment and communities.
