On a normal day in Shenyang, I do not see much nature. To find bits of nature to share with you, I went to a very big park.
Parks in Shenyang look surprisingly similar to parks in the United States. At this park, the leaves on the trees were changing color, turning beautiful reds, browns, oranges and yellows. They were dry, and some were falling on the ground. I saw many bird feeders out to help the birds find food as it becomes scarcer in the colder months. I also saw some areas with food and water for stray cats.
I was so happy to see all the trees with the leaves changing colors! It reminded me of home, and part of me was surprised that leaves change color in exactly the same way here.
Trees that change colors and lose their leaves like this exist all around the world. Shenyang has a similar climate to New York. The climate of a place is determined by the conditions of the air and things like weather, temperature and amount of rain. Shenyang and New York both have what is called a humid continental climate. This means that both places have similar habitats, which results in the plants being similar as well. That's why the park looked so familiar to me.
