Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

The main language spoken in Bulgaria is the Bulgarian language. Younger generations typically will know some English from either school, movies or social media. Many of the older generations know the Russian language.

What type of money is used here?:

The type of money used in Bulgara is called lev or leva (plural). One lev is equal to 100 stotinki. This is kind of like pennies in the U.S.! One lev in Bulgaria is equal to about 50 cents in the U.S., so that means about 2 leva in Bulgaria will be about one U.S. dollar. When I do the math, I always divide the price in half!

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water costs a little less than one lev

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I had was when I went out to eat at a restaurant with my best friend, Reni! We got a lot of yummy appetizer dips like hummus and a Bulgarian yogurt cucumber dip called snezhanka (remember that Bulgarian yogurt is very popular here) with some delicious homemade bread! I also made some homemade brownies this week for a bake sale I hosted at the school to help raise money for our speech and debate team's competition next week!
