I traveled approximately 25 kilometers this week, mostly from my house to the school and twice to Arequipa’s historical center. I live in a very central area so I do not have to travel very far.
So far, I have traveled 3,284 miles from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Lima, Peru. I also had to travel 475 miles from Lima to Arequipa, as well as 16 miles around Arequipa. I also likely traveled more than 100 miles around Lima. This adds to a rough estimate of approximately 3,884 total miles!
I walk from my apartment to the school four times a week. To go to the mall or the historical center, I use Taxitel, which is like the Uber of Arequipa.
The historical center was the most interesting to me. The buildings are made of sillar, or white volcanic rock. This is what gives Arequipa the nickname "The White City." There are many shops and restaurants with traditional dishes as well, which I enjoyed exploring!
