Traveler Bio

Hello! My name is Allison Young. I am currently living in Bangalore, India while conducting research on honey bees. I’m so excited to share my adventures with you! I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky where I went to college at the University of Kentucky. Growing up, I always loved animals and wanted to travel to as many places in the world as possible. Because of those desires, I studied biology in college and took every opportunity to travel. I got to visit Tanzania (a country on the eastern coast of Africa) and Peru (a country in South America) during that time, which only made me want to travel even more! After finishing college, I wanted to continue studying animals and traveling, so I moved to East Lansing, Michigan to go to graduate school at Michigan State University. I am currently working on a doctoral degree, studying the behavior of Indian honey bees, which are important insects that help plants make many of the foods we eat. I decided to study Indian honey bees because it allows me to combine my love for animals with my love for travel. India is a beautiful country, and I’m very excited to learn more about it over the next few months. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all! Are you ready? Let's go!
