The main language that is spoken here is English. Everyone here thinks I have an accent, which means that I think they pronounce words differently than I am used to, but to me they all have an accent. I think they also say funny things like "mate" which means friend. They will say "I am meeiting my mates for lunch" instead of "I am meeting my friends for lunch."
Here, we use the Australian dollar (AUD). Something that is different than in the U.S. is they use a dollar coin instead of a paper bill. The U.S. does have dollar coins but they aren't as common as they are here in Australia.
A bottle of water here is $5.00 AUD, which seems quite expensive but when you convert back to U.S. dollars, it is $3.38. Do you still think that's expensive?
The best meal I had this week was a cheeseburger and french fries from a restraunt called ''Betty's.'' The burger was very delcious and reminded me of the American burger chain "Smashburger.'' It felt like I was eating a meal at home again.
