When it comes to getting rid of the grabage in your house, the process is quite simple. Every night around eight o'clock in the afternoon, the city employees place trash bins every 500 feet or so. These trash bins are usually different colors : black, yellow, and blue. The blue is for recyclables, the yellow for packaging and plastic, and the black for food waste (egg shells, lettuce, etc.). Sometimes people are even taxed if they do not separate their garbage according to these bins. It is a great incentive to take care of the environment and recycle what you can. However, this depends on the apartment you are living in. For example, I will not be fined if I do not sparate the garbage, but my friend who lives in another building would be fined. That is how the garbage system works here. The only difference between big and small cities is that sometimes in the smaller cities there are big huge garbage bins for recyclables in the center of town and the people need to walk to it. As a result, sometimes there is less recycling happening in these small places. Early in the morning the next day the workers pick up the garbage and take the garbage bins away.
Cleaning the streets is also an efficient process. The employees go around with a cart that has a broom, a dust pan, and a trash bin. They simply sweep the streets and clean up any garbage. They even go into the park areas and do the same. Sometimes they drive a bigger machine that has two huge brushes at the front of it. This machine is used to clean the sidewalks, and sometimes they even water the sidewalks. They usually water them at night and sweep them with the big machine in the morning.
After this job is done, we are left with a beautiful, clean city!
