Who is Andrew? What does he do?

Everyone here speaks Spanish, so I do my job completely in Spanish (and I learn a lot of Spanish along the way!).

I live in a town called Cabeceras. There are less than 1,000 people that live in this town, and it’s surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. Cabecera is the Spanish word for “head of a river”. One of the main rivers in the region begins near the town, so that’s why they named it Cabeceras! Most people in Cabeceras work on farms - mainly coffee and dairy farms. Cabeceras is close to a famous rainforest called Monteverde as well, so many of the locals work for tourism companies in Monteverde.

On top of being from DC, being a Peace Corps Volunteer and living in Costa Rica, I have lots of hobbies and interests! I really love watching professional sports, with football being my favorite (I’m a big Washington Commanders fan, which is sadly a pretty tough job). I also really like playing sports like basketball and golf, and I get to play a lot of soccer or fútbol with people in Cabeceras. I like listening to electronic, indie and reggae music and watching thriller and comedy movies. I’m also currently learning how to play the guitar, so let me know if you have any songs you think I should learn!

I’m looking forward to sharing more about my journey in Costa Rica and learning more about you guys! What are some things that interest you? What questions do you have for me about Costa Rica? Do you think you would ever live in another country? If so, where?

Talk to you all soon!
