Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

One of the most fun activites this week was handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters on Halloween. I live with several other graduate students next to an elementary school, so we recieved at least 30 visitors that evening. Canadian Halloween felt almost identical to U.S. Halloween.

What did I read this week?:

Each week I read several hundred pages for my classes on political science and theory. For my economics class, I read a book about market institutions, or in other words, the formal rules which structure exchange. For my international relations course, I read several articles about resolving interstate conflict through building critical conciousness. If you were to spot me around Toronto, there is a high chance that I would be reading.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I don't consider myself to be a sports person; however, considering that the Toronto Bluejays were playing in the World Series against the Dodgers, I made an exception. There was a papable excitement in the air last week, and you could spot blue hats and sports jerseys on nearly everyone across the city. It really felt as though I was part of a city-wide community, all rooting and cheering for one team.

Other news from this week:

As I've learned from talking with locals, the city of Toronto is always ramping up construction at this time to try and complete projects before snow fall. My commute to and from campus is constantly changing to accomdate for the various streets and sidewalks blocked off.
