Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Every day I have class, I walk around 20-30 minutes each way to campus. It might sound like a lot, and some days it does feel this way, but the city scenery makes the time pass quickly. I am dreading the winter during ch I will probably have to take the bus because it isn't particuarly fast, and I'll miss the excercise.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

The furthest I've traveled so far on my Fulbright trip is to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. The city of Ottawa is roughly 4.5 hours away from Toronto by train. Many consider it the intermediary city between Toronto and Montreal.

How did I get around this week?:

I typically walk 15,000-20,000 steps a day, so as you can probably guess, my primary mode of transportation is walking! I would argue that the best part of living in a city is the walkability—I haven't been behind the wheel of a car in two months! If the weather doesn't permit walking, I'll take the Toronto Transit Commission buses or underground trains to campus.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week is the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto, granted I am a graduate student with not a ton of free time. The Eaton Centre is one of the biggest malls in the city and much of it is underground.
