Getting around in Seoul

Introduction:

In Seoul, the most common form of transportation is the subway. Korea is well known for is its efficient transportation system. This includes subway, high-speed railway and bus routes. It's very common for Korean people to travel using public transportation.

How do people get around?:

While the city is filled with cars, mopeds and motorcycles, you'll find that most people take the train, also known as the subway. The train is very reliable and is most Koreans' favorite way to get around. So, let's say that you want to get around the public transportation system. The first step is choosing your transportation app. The two most-used apps are Naver and KakaoMetro, which are equally popular among Koreans. These apps are used to figure out train and bus routes. They also include the expected arrival and departure times! The second step is getting a metro card to accompany your apps. These are called T-money cards, and are sort of like debit cards. You can refill these cards with your own money and use it however many times you want. T-money cards can be used in stores as well.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

The first time I took the train alone, I was very nervous. I've used the New York City's subway system and have definitely gotten lost a couple of times. However, the Korean train routes are much easier to navigate.
